So blooming excited. Tickets sell fast though and even though it sounds promising the boys are going for it they might not win the opp to represent Ireland. By the time we find out, they'll be gone. I defo wanna go though. I'm a HUGE Eurovision fan and a trip to Germany sounds ace. OMG i'm gonna pee myself i'm so excited. EDIT: Well, I managed to get the time off work for this. I WILL go if they do. That's FACT!!! I hate the idea of them doing Eurovision and my daughter groaned when I told her it looked like they were definately doing it, and yet within ten minutes we were excitedly discussing the possibility of going to Germany to support them. That's hugely disappointing if it's true that tickets will already be sold out.

They're in for an uphill struggle if they make it through the national final. ESC diehards are VEHEMENTLY against them doing it - without hearing a song first.
They definatley have the strongest mentor and she should be able to round up someone to write something decent for them. Their name alone should get them through the Nationals, but when it comes to Europe it's going to be the song and performance that's going to be most important.
They'll have to commit to a Europe press tour... April UK tour could be out the window if they make it through. That'll be when they'll need to be touring Europe and promoting. Building up a buzz about themselves to people who dont know them will be paramount. The hair could actually work to their advantage in that area. It'll be like starting out again

Is it bad that I never believed in April as fixed point for another UK tour? I mean since when did they have such knowledge of their own diary?
European press tour will be interesting - they're hard to follow if English is your first language!
It does all come down to the song, it is a song contest after all, they have to have something to work with. The haters and those vehemently opposed to them doing it will help get their name out there, so that's not a problem. I knew it was too soon for them to lose the quiffs.
Since they've worked as singers for a year with a "tuneless gruesome twosome tag" the worrying potential of "nil points" tag for them is marginal - we'll wear it with pride it if happens, but I don't think that it will since they aren't the UK entry ( automatic pass to the final is not always a good thing) it'll be a fun learning experience for them either way and a chance to make some European contacts. Did the nintendo ad get played Europe wide in the end? cos that will help with Jedward brand recognition no end.

The November tour we just had was suopposed to be September lol. I'm with Katherine - I never took April as gospel either.
John and Edward are people that are very likeable when you meet them and the Europeans don't know of their XFactor career and stuff so have nothing to judge on but their personalities. People will like them after the promo tour I'm sure and if the song is good then you're onto a winner.
I really think this is the best move for them.

Sounds like it's going to be officially confirmed by Louis tonight. So excited about it though. Ultimately Ireland won't want to win it, so as long as the boys get to the final they're laughing. Best result as far as Ireland is concerned is placing well but not winning.
Some Russian actor posted a picture with them on Twitter and made comment about being surprised his followers knew of them...so they maybe do have some people know about them throughout Europe. Tbh, they're probably sort of on the level of Alexander Rybak and Lena, who both were contestants on talent shows and known in their countries before the contest.
I'm just desperate to hear the song now. Fingers crossed they go for fun europop and not novelty...

I could kiss whoever came up with the ideas to put them forward. I could scream - but I won't coz I'm at work

Well the Borisenko twins covering Ice Ice baby, will have helped in the former Russias which always stitich up the votes between themselves. Agreed Ireland probably don't want to actually win - not sure they could afford to host it next year if they did. The boys just need to get into the final and place say top 8, maybe top 5. with the right song they could do that easy! It needs to be a proper europop song, not a novelty thing. Then it can be their next single and then other song writers can see that they can do it and the original songs will start flooding in! Amazing 2nd album, European Tour, Jedward world domination plans, the next phase, mission complete. Then Japan. Let's do this! We'll never see them again

Lol, Borisenko probably won't have helped that much, they're not THAT famous tbh haha
Caroline Downey Desmond is quite influential, she's Director of MCD, the biggest tour promoters in Ireland (although it amuses me they don't do Jeds tours lol) She organised Childline too. She's in the video backstage at Childline, Nicky interviews her just after he interviews the twins.
The boys have pretty much confirmed it. Only one other mentor seems to have got an act so far and they've gone for Eurovision before. I'm still wary, it's not cut and dry they'll be the representative, there's been upsets before.

Last year they sent out a repeat in that Niamh woman last year. Will the send another repeat out? One thing is for sure - The Jeds aren't nowhere as bad as Dustin the bloody Turkey. What were they thinking with that thing?

aw Dustin the turkey was hilarious! "we're sorry for River dance" but it did seem a bit "we're desperate not to win"

I don't honestly think most of the countries entering actually want to win these days! I'm ridiculously excited about this and if they can get through the national selection process I don't honestly see how it would be detrimental for them? They'd still be viewed in the same way in the UK and ROI by fans/haters but really it could open doors for them, it's just got to be handled in the right way in terms of the right song, the right performance, the right publicity etc. Their unique look will get them noticed for sure in Europe.

the press & hype for this is going to be huge . ok im excited about the song tbh- with practice & full time mentoring they can nail it . jed has loads of charisma & stage presence so it should add on to their eurovision factor.
what is eurovision vision? anyone?

I actually don't know what to think of this lol! Many people in Malta take Eurovision so seriously (although we rarely actually place well lol)... I think in a way it would be really good for exposure, and they would be touring different countries in Europe for promotion (if they get chosen to represent Ireland) which I'm sure they would love, (and I would love EVEN MORE if they promoted their song in Malta! I guess I could dream on though!).. I just hope they don't get a lot of bad press or anything, that would be awful! I think their energy and how original they are will help them to do well tho..
