I voted maybe cus I'm thinking it's pretty much unpredictable. Could be a good thing or something could go bad.
But they would get more attention so who knows!

Nowadays I dislike Eurovision because unless you're an Eastern Bloc country you don't have a prayer. However, it would mean screen time even if Ireland didn't make the finals. A new song. A new them. So, Hell Yes! But only representing Ireland! I have not one drop of Irish blood in me! This isn't the case anymore. Jury's back in the mix has changed this. Norway won last year and that's not Eastern. The UK came 5th place last yr too - much better than we had done in the past. As for the record deal thing.... Other countries always use big stars to represent them. Sonia represented us in the 90's and she had a record deal. Thanks for that information. In this house if we even bother watching we have seen how the U.K. and Germany (both of whom we support — it's quite nice having two teams) never have stood a chance since many other countries entered because of the voting. I might even watch this year if they are using jury-style voting. I do understand why people are against our Grimes men shouldn't enter and you're all probably right. There's no changing my poll vote though.

There's no changing my poll vote though. The public still vote too. It's 50% Public, 50% Jury. I think they put a Jury back in when the UK complained about it. We're one of the highest paying countries in the competition. They wouldn't want to lose the UK market. I still think Jedward would be great on Eurovision. It made Abba a household name afterall.

I voted God no!! It would be tragic. twitter.com/Jaynecollinsmac has been going through eurovision auditions, people just send them in. It usually is someone pretty unknown that does it so they can't ruin their career.

I absolutely LOOOOOVE Eurovision! I'm one of those sad people that watch it the whole way through and actually vote.. and in fairness Ireland have nooo idea how to be "eurovision-ish". There's nothing more I would love to see than Jedward representing us. But for their sake, I'd have to say no.. If they entered & won, well it'd be a success really but Ireland are probably never gunna win it again so it'd be a bit of a tradegy.. Like, I dont think anyone can really look at Dustin the Turkey after 2008 so I wouldnt have the same for Jedward..

He was obviously a protest after Ireland finished last place the year before. Ireland had a good song last year with Et Cetera and still didn't get through. I think Jedward could do it though coz they're just brilliant.

Like, I find him funny & so do most people here but Europe didnt really get the humour in it & it all backfired Yeah the girl from Clondalkin, they didnt even make it passed the semis..

Hm, maybe it would be good. I'm not the biggest fan of Eurovision because it usually has some really terrible acts and we never win anyway. I would think J&E would represent Ireland, but that's still great because us from the UK would be able to vote for them. ;D I just don't really think Eurovision would be right for them.

definte no. no one takes eurovision seriously And who in the wider world takes J&E seriously? They are bubblegum fun. They are perfect Eurovision fodder and I wouldn't mind if they represented Ireland. I really don't think it would harm them much. Louis Walsh also has a history with Eurovision, with both Johnny Logan (who won) and Linda Martin (who also won). I voted maybe, but I'm thinking it would be cool.

They'd have to represent Ireland if they did it. People wouldn't be very happy if they did it for the UK

Irish people wouldn't be happy about that. Personally, I wouldn't care but Irish people can be quite nationalist
