apparently, people can vote already just after the first performance - i think its unfair unless they all give out the number to vote so avid fan can start voting - like for jedward even they perform last

They did that for the final last year and if I remember right they did show the numbers for every act. I don't know about the semis though

was this Lipstick song performed for entering the Eurovision? do they have to sing some different songs in Euro vision? I dont know much about this competition as I'm not European. The song was picked after a show called EUROSONG. This is the "national selection" show in Ireland. Five acts sung a song and afterwards a jury (made up of industry insiders) and the public voted for which song they wanted to represent Ireland at Eurovision. Jedward and Lipstick won and this is the same song they have to sing in Eurovision. This was just Ireland however. Most countries go through a similar process through a selection show like this. This year though a lot of countries have picked internally (The main TV broadcasters sort out their entries E.g. RTE for Ireland, BBC for UK).

thanks for explaining. so each conutry has only one singing act in Eurovision with only one song? i thought there are some steps and they have to sing 2-3 songs before they get to the final. so there is only one song for each country. How many times do they have to sing it live. and how much time is given to the public to vote?

There's two semi finals and a final. About 48 countries are taking part this year. 5 of these (Spain, Italy, France, UK and Germany) go through to the final automatically because they pay more money to compete. The rest are split into 2 semi finals. Each country performs once and voting starts as soon as the first acts votes then goes on for about a further 15-30 minutes after the last act has sung. People can only vote a max of 20 times. Countries cannot vote for themselves.

Yeah, it helped a lot. So you are not allowed to vote for jedward. So if Ireland is separated from UK, as you said above, people in England, Wales or Scotland could vote for jedward. Am I right? And if I’m not mistaken all the 4 countries make up Britain.

The UK can't vote in the semi but can vote in the final if they make it. Ireland can't vote at all

So yeah -- no money has been spent on a promo video because RTE are saving their budget for the final performance.
This is a good plan actually because nothing makes an impression like someone who performs a belter of a show when everyone thinks they'll be crap

^^that's true. And it's more about the performance really isn't it so this could really work in their favour. I can't wait for this. I usually find Eurovision quite rubbish cos we never win but it's all good cos i don't want the UK to win anyway this time! Plus i really hope J&E's performance kicks Blue's ass... (assuming they get through to the final that is lol)

I've been watching a lot of peoples "Top 10" videos on YouTube and the Jeds are in most of them. Seems Estonia and Sweden are their only competition in that Semi - they should get to the final
