Their way to be dignified and privateDear Admin, I have no objection if you feel this post shouldn't be here and you want to remove it. I place it here as this thread on our forum has addressed the issue and have added the link and copied some of the posts to expand the discussion, not to make this open forum into a sort of political discussion about homosexuality. People have spoken of Edward, this speaks of both brothers' sexuality. I add these posts to say loudly and clearly I think it's a form of bullying by the opening poster of this thread to insist Edward or anyone needs to discuss such a personal topic as their own sexuality before or if they are ready. I cannot begin to imagine how I would have felt at the age of 19 to be harried in this manner. It really isn't cool to try to force the issue. If Edward or if John are gay, let them be who they are and if they wish to make an announcement, that's his/their decision. However, it IS being discussed on the web and therefore it isn't necessarily right or wrong it should also be discussed on the best Jedward forum available, JedwardGenius. 'Don't ask, don't tell' was a miserable piece of legislation made for the American military services which was enforced to keep homosexuality a secret further suggesting homosexuality was wrong. Homosexuality is not a choice, homosexuality is not wrong. Neither is, astonishingly enough, heterosexuality. Both sexualities simply are and there is nothing to be ashamed of. * A few of the better posts on the subject of if Jedward (either or both) are gay or not from an Irish gay forum: www.gaire.com/e/f/view.asp?parent=1339341&nav=8 & www.gaire.com/e/f/view.asp?parent=1339341&nav=9Some of the posts are Jedward friendly, many are not, so read with care should you be easily upset. *** What happened to what once was a sacred principle of the gay community:thou shall not out your neighbor?
I do not care if one of the twins is gay or not. Are you guys and gals no better than the Sun and other trash media?
If one of them comes out, then run the story if you feel it matters. But running that imaginary story/fantasy of yours, when one of them might be struggling with his sexuality at only 19, already an adult in right but still just a teenager. At the age of most of the posters it is even suspicious to spend so much time fantasizing about the sexuality of a 19-years old. These kids will hardly be mature before they are 21.
What if they are just that more modern than you are that they do not need to “come out” before they start practicing sexuality? What if they are unsure and care not for your need to be reassured about your own sexuality by labeling others? What of treating question about their sexuality in derision and as if girls had cooties was their way to not be out but not be in the closet? Their way to be dignified and private?
Have you got no shame? No dignity? What’s wrong with you all? Get a grip, will you! Then get your own life.
“No outing” is not negotiable. It is an absolute of the Code of the Gay-di. (Even for homophobes, which the Grimes brothers are not.)
***
Flame On said : Unfortunately the price of celebrity is having no private life at all and when fame starts to drift away some start to sell what's left of their lives. (see Kerry Katona for examples of selling every vestige of ones life just to make a buck/headline)
I smell bullshit! It is not "unfortunate", it is how people with no dignity or nothing interesting in their own life give themselves a pat in the back.
If they want to sell out, then give out to them if you have to. But starting selling them out, outing them (maybe, I don't care if anyone else but me and my boy friend are gay), is not excusable. It is despicable.
It is not good sport. It is not funny. It is not just banter. It is borderline homophobia. It is outing.
No amount of excuses can change that, and blaming the victims is a bully’s tactic that cannot wash on a gay forum when it comer to outing.
And the worst is people do not even realize that. They will brush it off by saying “but I am not homophobic!” When the reality is that this act of outing a potentially fellow gay (or worst, outing someone who has not decided, or is private and/or may just not be gay), that act is homophobic.
*
Gay friendly young men! They should be ashamed! They must be "one of them, like, you know... pancies".
*
It is homophobioc to attempt to out people. (And selfish too) It does not matter if they are or not: it is their own chocie when and if they want to "come out". (If they are gay)
Period.

can this thread be moved and you all discuss it "in the closet" . i'm just concerned that when new younger fans or anyone searching "who is Jedward" & join this forum - we will all confuse them . and this " sexuality" issue might lose them some fans. and there is this guy from ESCdaily who post and visited the site & maybe some others as Eurovision hype is increasing , its not good if they come across this thread, not this time. You are so all intellectually discussing this and I feel like you have no disregard to John and Edward feelings or how this will affect their fanbase or their career. They have an image to protect and to some younger fans they are perceived in different way.
We all love John and Edward but not everyone will understand or accept the nature of this conversation from this thread. Don't tell me not to read this post if i dont like what im reading (i'm sure some of you will post that based on my experience) just ask the Admin to move this thread - you know where it should be moved. and you can discuss and battle it out
There is a Proper time and place for everything

I don't see the problem if they aren't all homophobics.
What about my feelings? I don't like getting insulted lol. And I'm younger then John and Edward lol. The reason this thread has gotten so brutal is cuz people respond to it and keep it alive. Which means it has been a successful thread. Esp thanks to Floh for her long posts. I say again I don't hate Edward. Yes I said it but that was after an interview, were he was incredible annoying and some of the comments he has made, has been very provocative. But I say, again, I don't hate Edward at the end of the day but I don't love him either. Sometimes he's likeable and sometimes he really pisses me off. But hey, they didn't get listed as the most annoying people of 2010 for nothing. The most important thing is that he's nice and don't bring harm to the world.
Also, I get really pissed when some hear say that he acts a 'bit' feminine. That's like saying I'm exaggerating, which I'm not. Discussing celebrities sexuality has never been a problem for me. It's like discussing whether the actor is a vegetarian or if he's a racist. I'm sure this is the first thread in the boards history that bring up different themes then love and yeah love.
John and Edward are 19 but you all TREAT them like KIDS! It's like saying the twins have a bad psyche and that they can get so hurt...You'll all just said to me how intelligent they are, don't make it sound like that you don't mean it.

I don't see the problem if they aren't all homophobics. Yes that is pretty offensive actually. It's a discussion, these are peoples views and opinions not fact, Jedward aren't coming out and saying they are gay or straight, the ball is in their court. Obviously there is still a HUGE stigma attached to being gay to the point it's something that's all "hush hush" they could lose fans.

Edward must be retarded or something. He's made so many retarded comments over the past year that it's getting on my nerves by now. And he's like 3 years older then me Is it possible. Even guys at the age of 13 is more mature then him. That John doesn't get more embarrassed on behalf of his twin, is beyond me. ...... A 19 year old just wouldn't act in such a way ...... Edward's comments are just awful. Like he said haters are jealous on them for not being them. While John say that he thinks the haters deep down like them, you know you like us or something. See, it's much more logic in John's comment then in Edward's. And in the end, I cannot have respect for a guy who is just as childish as a 10 year old. ...... I bet that every male fan they have, actually like John much more then Edward. Yeah it's rude but it's true. Edward's just all too girly/feminin and annoying. i do not think Edward is retarded, and it's not okay to use that word to describe anybody. as jadehill2001 said, a person doesn't come up with those crazy comebacks that fast if he isn't clever. as penguin has observed, Edward is not always serious. I guess I am familiar with boys' tendencies to be naughty having a brother w/ an acerbic sense of humor and another one who's a practical joker, that I recognized this early on in Edward. Others, including some interviewers unfortunately, are not, and do not recognize when they have just been delivered a joke. on what does or does not make sense: i'm one of the oldest people in the forum when it comes to actual age (not membership), and i think that if you grow a decade and a few more years, you'd probably figure out why some of us adults take delight in those "retarded" comments. They actually make sense. On John being embarrassed of Edward: Probably sometimes, but I think most of the time he finds Edward's craziness cool because he isn't as laid back as his twin. If my memory is correct, John may have said something to that effect in an interview. On the issue of sexuality, Floh is correct on not pressuring the issue on anyone, as the LGBT community itself, although it applauds everyone who have decided to come out, respects a person's decision on when or even whether to go out of the closet or not. What she quoted from another forum were pretty much the same arguments I've read when people weren't sure if Chris Colfer of Glee is gay. True fans wouldn't give a hoot if a person is gay or not, they love the person for his/her ability to provide them entertainment. It's a good thing that lately, coming out doesn't seem to hurt the careers of some celebrities. On effeminate guys: reptillian222 is not alone though on finding them annoying. I know guys that are that way too. They're also homophobic. Mind you, annoying is different from uncomfortable. I know of manly straight guys who'd prefer to hang out with someone openly gay than keep guessing if guy is gay or not...with openly gay effeminate guys, they know they can mention make-up, fashion and ask if hes got a crush on another guy without fear of offending him. btw, i know 3 effeminate guys who are straight and are married. Both actually CAN sing, but they BOTH bloody need singing lessons from a qualified teacher to beat it into them and much, much practice and rehearsal time which they haven't had because they've been full-on since they left that bloody XFactor show. .... Are they annoying? God, yes! Sometimes I could slap them, but for goodness' sakes they are 19 year's old and what 19 year-old wouldn't one as an adult of mature years want to (metaphorically) slap them for stupidity every now and again because of teenage thoughtlessness? I agree to both statements. Dear Abby, My boyfriend uses moisturiser, mousse on his hair and blow dries his quiff (really). Should I be worried? Yours, A Woman. That would apply to a lot of straight guys. lol! Men are vain ... why else would the male of some species be more colorful than the female? the peacock is a primary example. John and Edward are 19 but you all TREAT them like KIDS! It's like saying the twins have a bad psyche and that they can get so hurt...You'll all just said to me how intelligent they are, don't make it sound like that you don't mean it. Got to admit you got a point there. But you entered a zone inhabited by Jedward fans, so you shouldn't be surprised at the wall they'll build to protect John and Edward. Wait a minute, that should be a we. I am a fan.

No one is trying to censor anyone here. This thread has gotten really annoying. Its always great to see a variety of opinions, but you went beyond giving an opinion and making some really disparaging comments. There is a difference of being constructive and then being out right rude. You came in here calling him retarded, which is far from the truth, and then making it sound so awful that he is camp and on the fem side like there is somethingwrong with that. Also going on and on about his sexuality and wondering why he hasn't come out and what not. Who cares? It seems like your the one with the issues and Not Edward.
This could be an interesting thread about the annoying things both do, because John can be just as annoying as well, and can be light hearted and fun, but its turned nasty.

being considerable about how they feel has nothing to do with their age or their intelligence. John and Edward can act that they are not hurting and they can deny but its stupid not to actually feel it - because its part of being human. I will feel the same for you if only you will stop bragging this issue. Its not your sexuality or your behaviour being ripped apart here - its Edward and its him you are disecting from every aspect of his personality. Its all about opinions, but you do not have career to protect, you haven't face a public scrutiny or hate at all. This is really annoying now in as much as i don't want to post anymore I feel like obliged to reply at your post. The boys doesnt know me but i feel protected of them as I admire their courage to go out there and follow their dreams despite negativity & hate, You can call it whatever but I strongly believe this thread has gone overboard. im really done here - its a neverending story

Sometimes he's ok and sometimes he get really stupid. So stupid that it actually come to me as retarded. A 19 year old just wouldn't act in such a way. i hadn't really planned on replying to this but i'm in a confrontational mood and i don't agree with what you've said here. have you actually met a nineteen year old in your life ever?!? I am nineteen, a lot of my friends are nineteen or thereabouts...dude you pretty much described all of us (apart from the retarded comment which quite franky is beyond unnessesary) We're all intelligent but we can all be immature and childish, we act a bit stupid sometimes and say silly things, that doesn't make us retarded. Do you never say things you wish you'd never said or maybe worded a bit differently? You've mentioned that you're a few years younger than John and Edward so are also younger than me...i am insulted by your comments. Edward's pretty normal, i would say, as is John...you have a bit of a jaded view of what nineteen year olds are like or anyone for that matter, most people have silly moods. Anyway that's my 2 cents

As a fan you follow someone you are interested in, you like them for what they are!! For me John and Edward are amusing, funny, interesting and entertaining, they pick me up on a bad day. Their antics whether femine or not lift my spirits in this otherwise boring world. They are what they are and we love them for it, fair play to anyone who can seize an opportunity when it comes and work so hard to make the best of it. The certainly have my vote for Eurovision!!

Hey guys i'm new here lol bbut i saw this old thread so thought i should contribute even if no 1 replys backk 2 it lool. Im the same age as John and Edward and I think they are pretty normal. All these remarks about Edward being gay/retarded whatever have you is kinda like wrong to say. This has got nothing to do with being born premature tbh I think they r awesome individuals. Plus its like they are a package deal like alot of you said they are a one piece set hence the JEDWARD stage name. I really admire both of them and think they complment each other beautifully. You cannot achieve the success they have if your 'retarded' they have stood the test of time and are going strong. On your face Simon Cowell lol. Hes even dropping good singers like Shayne Ward lol. But then again it was only a one single deal with song/sico and thank god they got immediately signed by universal shortly after. Anyways next thing people/aduts mainly saying that one of them ('Edward') is gay... people say being gay is a choice i dnt believe in that i'm straight but like you cant make assumptions on what people say e.g. news/rumours. Just read this extract of this intensive in depth interview they did with a newspaper. They are really intelligent when they want to be its just that people dont want to see the same old 'popstar'; they offer something unique. And sometimes you cant point your finger at what ithat exactly is. This is the extract At this point I joke, “But let’s face it, guys, with hairstyles like yours must be gay,” and ask which one, like Stephen in Boyzone and Mark in Westlife, will be “coming out” in a year or three. “Neither of us!” Edward responds. “But to anyone who is gay, out there, reading this article, I don’t want them to think that when I say, ‘We’re not gay,’ we’re putting you down. We’re really proud of you, we want you to realise that being gay is not a bad thing, and that everything we’re saying in this interview, and everything we say overall, is in the hope of inspiring people.” So you can see Edward or in that case both can be serious when they want to.... if they where diplomatic and serious and acted liked cliche popstars then that wouldnt be entertainment that just wouldnt be fun for them the audience and the hosts. They work really hard and i'm so happy for them. I really cant hear anything bad about them lol cos thats how close we Jedward fans are to each other. Btw i've never met them irl but i have alot of respect for them. I hope they dnt exaust themselves too much now they r going 2 america =
