I was really hoping for an original song. They sound great singing it and I love it as a song, it's very 'them' but I'm a little worried about the reaction from Blink fans etc. DNW hate! But fingers crossed it all turns out for the best. Main thing is they're excited! And it's trending #2 in the UK I see so seems like fans are onboard.

If it cant be an original song, then thats the next best thing, they sound wicked singing it and a studio version should be even better. i think that song really suites them
and yea blink fans are gunna go nuts about it, but people are always going to give them a heard time no matter what they release
its a good choice, lets hope universal doesnt screw it up like UP was

I'm so happy they're gonna release this song! I think they sing it well and will do a great job with it. Only thing I'm worried about is that it's quite a well known song - I think they need to do some original songs as well at some point instead of covers.

Hmmm, I'm in two minds on this. On the plus side its a contemporary song, and might even get them some airplay if its poppy and summery. On the downside, its going to clash directly with Blink's comeback, so people will just buy the originals. I can see a RATM type campaign by Blink fans, definatley I mean ultimatley I like it, but in practice I can see there being problems? I get the impression it won't be released until after the album either?

why do you think it'll be released after the album? I dunno, just the fact they haven't decided a date, and theyre not leaving much time..... I suppose the 5th or 12th of July are possible, and the most sensible, but its still only giving a short amount of publicity time

I think Charlotte is following the "if you haven't anything nice to say" yadayadayada.
I don't follow that rule so I'm going to say I'm 50/50 about it NOW <---- This might change.
They sung it well and it was popular on tour but they are going to get some serious stick from not only Blink fans but also fans of rock music in general. YES, they'll get stick anyway but rock fans are the kind that just ignore what they don't like. If a pop act cover an old rock favourite then they will incude their say.
Let's just say that this won't expand the boys fanbase.
As for promotion - it'll start on Saturday... They'll sing it at Croke and they'll sing it at Hollyoaks and then who knows. I bet they'll be on TV a lot these next coming weeks.

This song is a great summer, punk-pop song so I think they'll rock it. Agree with what Jade said about it not expanding the fanbase. I don't think leading from an album with a cover version is ever a good thing, so I hope that there really are some decent original songs on the album. People can assume you are leading with a cover because there is nothing origianal that is good enough to release We'll have to wait and see. I'm glad they're excited about it though and it really is a song that allows them to show how charismatic they are on stage and their incredible rapport with their audience - that 's one great thing about this choice...

I think there could have been a better first single, but it could have been worse too. All the fans will buy it, but will it have appeal outside the fanbase? I don't know. Will it broaden their fanbase,(which they need to do)? I don't think so. I'll have to reserve judgement until I actually hear the song and the production. I thought the UP/IIB single was completely overproduced and lost all the charm of when they performed it on the X-Factor. If ATST is produced well, if they can give it their own twist, and if the video is good, it might have a chance.
This single NEEDS to be good, really good, so it'll get the album sales going. By releasing a cover it's simply reinforcing doubters ideas that the boys are nothing more than a novelty act, only good for covers. That's why an original pop song would have been better imo, it would have displayed that they are carving their own path and managment was taking them seriously as pop artists. With another cover, they still seem like pretenders.
I want them to have a pop career that they are striving for really badly, so I've my fingers crossed. I look forward to hearing it. I hope the album has plenty of original material.
