Ok guys, I know he's not everyone's cup of tea, but there's no denying that Friedman has played a really big part in the careers of our wonderful boys so far. Whether it's the talky oops bit, the bopping in the the gostbusters car, the marshmallow man, the idea to bring Jedward to the public by winching them from the ceiling like bequiffed seraphs in rock dj, the under pressure conga dance or (and this is surely his finest achievement to date ) the crotch grab, much of how the twins are percieved by the public and to an extent by their fans is down to Friedman's input in their performances. I for one flippin' love him. This is a thread to discuss his input in the boys career. I guess it should be here since it does concern the boys, but mods, feel free to move it if you think it should be elsewhere I'll start with the obvious - the perfect work of art that is ; 'Oops' ;D This video has 1.7million views on youtube

I couldn't agree more, I said somewhere else that he should be knighted and sainted. if it wasn't for Oops the boys career would have been on an altogether different trajectory. Anyone who says differently is fooling themselves. Brian Friedman... we salute you sir. Bravo!

Ooops was the performance that set them apart as something completely otherworldly, unafraid, icons of high kitsch. I mean the bubbles - amazing! I think Friedman gets them and how different they are, and the appeal that lies in that. I don't follow xfactor at all. I think every singer that's ever come out of it (that I know of ) is bland and ordinary. I watch it as an entertainment show. I would never dream of buying a record from any artist who came out of that show - until now

He really makes the most of them. I 've always loved Bri cos I dance too and I remember back when he had that really crazy curly hair and was doing Britney's choreography. He really is partly responsible for Jed's succes because that Oops performance is what got everyone talking and it got so many views on youtube from around the world.
Much love for Bfree!!

But if the Oops performance hadn't happened the boys would have been back in Lucan faster than they could have said 'Hi Grandad!' It's hard to gauge Brian Friedman though, he says different things about the boys, but I think he loves them. He's done wonders with them, I cannot wait to see the new video.

Brian started here with the epic entrance of the twins on the live show. Which of the other acts on the show couldn possibly, possibly have made such an entrance thusly? Which? Clearly Brian was thrilled to have the twins and worked with them tirelessly, especially considering they had never done professional dance in their lives. Such a huge challenge for Brian whom I'm sure not since his early days had worked with such raw material in big acts. They done great and were launched, truly launched and Brian was the mastermind. Much was to come from him. He knew his charges were fearless so he slung everything their way and they never whined. The performance was a few short months ago. Haven't they changed! Brian has been behind their courage working with them hand in hand right up to the NTA performance and they have given all their trust to him. How worthy he has been of such trust from young men who have mainly just trusted each other through life. Brian has a strange understanding of who they are and despite his jokes has belief and respect for them. I think him proud of the Grimes twins, as well he should be.

Friedman reminds me of the Oscar Wilde quote from The Importance of Being Earnest - "To love oneself is the beginning of a life long romance' ;D I think his (public) opinion of them depends on what he percieves as the public opinion of them, and it changes accordingly. During the xfactor they were loveably hopeless and terrible, now they are his 'little brothers'. Either way, I think he was inspired by them like he hasn't been by any other contestants, maybe ever!! He's often says that he admires the fact that they were never afraid. They wanted to go for everything without worrying what other people thought about it. He could allow his imagination to run riot only with them. ;D I mean, can you imagine Joe doing anything other than taking a few steps to the left or right?

Brian's obviously played a massive part in their notoriety, and tbh he should choreograph everything they do ever in the world because he's obviously got a thing going with them now.
I get the impression he didn't take to them immediatley, in fact he still seemed a bit frosty about them even up until they left, but he said in a DS article today that they're like little brothers so it sounds like he's finally got the measure of them. Plus I love how he says he laughs seeing people trying to be authorative towards them because it doesn't work. It sounds like he feels quite protective of them now and has developed a good relationship with them.

What Brian didn't do, yet I think he did. He gave the men confidence to go out and be themselves. No matter they were the ones who danced freestyle and dun it, I honestly don't believe they could have without all the discipline Brian had meted out over the weeks before. This is the one which grabbed my heart!
(I am going to answer everyone's points tomorrow and fall back on the fact I'm an hour ahead of most of you and am bushed.)

I thought at first brian friedman would be one of those complete two-faced bitches (ahem holly willoughby) about john and edward, but he won has won me over with his love for the boys! i think he totally loves them and deserves a medal for some of the amaze shows he has helped them to put on, and i don't know but surely it says a lot that they are still working with him the vid etc
there was a cute interview he did with sinitta on the red carpet (i may be getting two different interviews mixed up here?) and he was totally bigging them up/sticking up for them!
love you mr friedman!

Yes I saw that interview, he made a very special comment at the end of the video Why do you think Holly was two-faced? I reckon Holly is quite lovely (except when she made that backlash comment when Edward was almost in tears, but I put that down to her having to ask those kind of questions).

The infamous 'intimate moments' interview ;D which demonstrates another aspect of Friedman's genius. Almost exclusively at this point they were derided and ridiculed in the media and Friedman had already long since realised the potential to play on the 'twincesty' angle of them and how it would affect a lot of female fans and generate media interest in them. I think today's interview was the first one I know of where he talks about how good looking they are but I think he saw way before anyone else (except maybe Louis) how they had the potential to inspire a lot of fantasy, which is how huge and long-lasting fanbases begin

Haha, yeah he did Erm I can't for the life of me remember any exact instances....I think i'd have to rewatch a couple of the xtra factor episodes but I do remember that on a couple of instances she's made a few snidey remarks about them, I seem to remember something on this morning that annoyed me a bit, it may have been just before they came on. also something she said on twitter about lloyd being better? this might all seem completely un-founded and i was probably being over sensitive but i just never got the vibes she really liked them, just was nice because it's her job!

Love the Brian! He had made some questionable remarks during the show, but he was/is always quick to compliment and defend them to. I think he gets a kick with them because they will do anything and have such determination and energy and don't complain.
Louis might of choose the songs for them to sing, but it was all Brian who planned all the routines and props. He went all out each week and made sure they would be the talk of the week and they always were.
