I was reading "When did you become a fan" thread and it seems that performance was an "eye opener" for so many of us. It needs its own thread! It made them Legends ;D
I don't think I'll ever forget seeing it for the first time. I was familiar with some singing competition shows (like pop idol) and was never a huge fan. Always same songs, good voices but no charisma, lots of ballads that bore me to death etc. So when I saw this I was like "what the hell did I just see?!" The suits, the singing, the dancing, the fact they're twins, and of course special mention to the leg kick at the end ;D I think if they did a different song that night this forum would be much smaller right now.

I think we need some of that forensic research for this one. That kick needs to have its own name. All I have to do is think about it and I start laughing.

I think my thought process when I watched it first went something like....'Britney? Surely not. They're wearing red pvc! trolleys!! Why are those people in crash helmets? Omg, surely they won't do the speaking part...no, they won't, they can't, Arggghhhh!! THEY'RE DOING THE SPEAKING PART!!!!!!' I actaully heard the rest of it from behind a cushion. I didn't even see the kick at the end. ;D At that point I thought they must either be subversive deviants out to destroy the xfactor from the inside or interplanetary looney toons who crashlanded their spaceship onto the xfactor stage and the dance was just their special alien language. Either way, I thought they were just the best thing ever!! ;D I too don't follow the xfactor too closely or invest in the contestants. I think it's all very bland - excepting only j&e

I was exactly the same, squirming on the couch, I think I was probably shrieking at the tv as well. I wonder did J&E realise how ridiculous they looked, how absolutely bizarre the whole set-up was? A perfect piece of post-post-modern television. Unequaled.

I wonder did J&E realise how ridiculous they looked, how absolutely bizarre the whole set-up was? One of the incredible things about j&e is they really don't seem to realise the impact it had and why. They were far too chuffed with themselves for getting to do Britney. ;D Brian Friedman, on the other hand, knew exactly the impact it was going to have. I think he could hardly believe his luck that they were going along with it, and with such enthusiasm!

They seemed to be thanking him and mentioning him a lot. I think the twins know to some extend how great Oooops was. They said many times it was their favourite performance, and how coool it was they got to do Britney's song on a show like that:) They also said it was different than anything on x-factor before, so I think they kinda know. And I love the fact that even though when it comes to staying in tune it was their worse (edit: I ment worst, but was too busy making sure I don't type 'worser' and still got it wrong oops) performance, they remain the same and still say it was the best thing they've ever done ;D

Legendary performance not their best though but it was the first moment in X-Factor history where someone spoke intentionally during a song

Absolutely loved it! And that leg kick... it's indescribable.... I am ALWAYS quoting the talking part with my friends. It's such a classic! Those "PVA" suits are unforgettable... I put the video on my iPod today. I haven't looked away... except for when I'm on this, of course.

I think if they did a different song that night this forum would be much smaller right now. I agree. This is the performance that made them. It's what got them international coverage. We are so lucky they were out of tune and out of time as it would have been nowhere near as good. I sometimes forget just how funny it was but just rewatched it- AMAZING.

I was on a very boring date tonight so i thought about the twins I lot (yes, I'm bad but it really was boring as hell) and I thought: what if they were this amazing singers, you know, that Simon's jaw would drop on the floor, Danni'd have nothing to bitch about etc. They'd never let them do THIS. They wouldn't sing Britney in those "PVA" suits. They'd be no leg kick They'd dress them just like anybody else, make them sing some Whitney or Mariah, it'd be boring as hell and I'd watch 15 seconds of it and I'd turn it off. I'm so glad they are the way they are!

This performance was the first time I ever saw John and Edward. I wasn't watching X factor this year, but kept reading about these 'cocky twins' so I switched on at week 2, and obvioulsy loved them! I watched this one so many times! :-)
