Your Country Needs You - the TV show that'll find us a representative is on in March. Jedward won't have enough time to do it with the X-Factor tour and everything

I don't think they should sing on Eurovision, but how funny would it be if they were the commentators, hours of randomness and hilarity.

I think they should be the people who announce the scores for either ireland or the uk!!!! That's actually a great idea, the whole of Europe would simultaneously be going "what the hell was that?" for the rest of the show.

So funny how long ago this topic was started.. but I think now is the time to start it up again!
Posted in the Guardian recently: 'It's funny how things go," says Orchestral Manouevres in the Dark's Andy McCluskey, reflecting on the reunited band's successful recent tour. "You're sitting in a hotel bar, luxuriating in the fact that you're still able to go out and make intellectual pop music, and Louis Walsh comes along and says, 'Please will you write me a Eurovision hit for Jedward?'" One of McCluskey's eyebrows shoots north; he relishes a good anecdote. "That really happened to me yesterday."
and today in the herald.ie:
JEDWARD are bracing themselves for Eurovision glory.
The Herald can exclusively reveal that the former X Factor stars will be competing to set the Eurovision stage alight next year.
Five Irish acts will battle it out to represent their home country at the 2011 competition and an X Factor-style competition is being created for the finalists to come head to head.
The five acts being put forward will be assigned five high-profile mentors, one of which is one half of Ireland's most powerful music couple, Caroline Downey of MCD.
The acts will then appear on the Late Late Show where they will sing for the public vote.
However, the new format isn't completely foreign to that of previous years.
There will still be a provincial jury for each team and the winner will be chosen by 50pc of the public vote and 50pc of the jury's.
An insider explained: "It's all being kept very hush hush right now, but Jedward are definitely going for it, and a real threat to win. Louis Walsh was very involved with Eurovision up until a few years ago, so I'm sure he'd be happy to see them represent Ireland.
"I'm sure the juries won't vote for them, but the public will definitely be pulling for them. All the kids watching the Late Late Show that night will be."
The Lucan twins' manager Louis Walsh has a long standing history in the competition and the Mayo mogul is said to have given them the extra push they needed to give it a shot.
Earlier this year, he branded our entry Niamh Kavanagh's song as "old fashioned" and said the boys would have a better shot of taking home gold.
"I'm sure Jedward could win it, they certainly have the attitude.
"They're as good as the girl who won on the night."
The twins' career has gone from strength to strength since making their debut on the X Factor last year.
Although they may have lost out on a place in the final, they are more successful that winner Joe McElderry.
And they are now set to expand their brand to Japan.
"They are going to be huge over there," Walsh said.
"Bosses think Jedward are going to be one of the biggest pop sensations ever.
"The fans there will go crazy. They are going global."
The Lucan twins are now in line for multimillion euro earnings with concerts, record sales and marketing deals and are appearing in panto next month.
PEOPLE'S OPINIONS?

LOVE Eurovision and you all know my stand on it - glad my thread is revived It would introduce them to the rest of Europe. I think some countries will like them. I think France and Spain would tbh.

All in all it would be great for them. Europe would love them, I'm sure, and there'd be no prejudice about the "X Factor" twins. They'd give a great live performance and win over everybody.

but they have to win in ireland first out of 5 finalist. it seems like the juries are not on their side however if they do enter its a great exposure and i think its their main objective and John and Edward has the likeability factor and once they are on stage you cant resist loving them.
