tinyurl.com/284pmtuDigital Spy have reported this story AGAIN. Yesterday they failed to mention "All the Small Things" as a cover but today they have. They've also mentioned that album is rumoured to contain songs from the Irish Tour. "who finished 5th on the show" poor lloyd thats the second article which has seemingly forgot he was in the show

It must already have some approval of Blink surely, won't the composer (Tom DeLonge) have had to give his permission for it to be covered? Or is that not how it works? No it doesn't work like that. No-one can stop you doing a cover version of a song. But if you record, and perform the song, and it gets played, royalties have to be paid to the publishing company that own the song. When a band plays a venue for example they have to sign a form saying what songs they played and who the publishers / writers are. These all go to the relevant authority in the country to collect royalties on behalf of artist. The PRS and MCPS do all that sort of stuff in the UK. Live venues, places that broadcast music have to have licences and pay annual fees to the MCPS as well as money to the PRS for performances etc. So basically every time ATST gets performed by J&E, or played on the radio, Universal collect more money. Tom probably doesn't 'own' his songs now. Not if he/Blink has this deal with Universal. He'll get a percentage of what they get, after a big sign on fee up front. Lots of artists sign publishing deals and these can be sold (e.g. when Michael Jackson bought the rights to all the Beatles songs or whatever he did) on when they run out. Many artists back in the old days used to get screwed over and make no money out of their songs, but they're all a lot smarter now. If you sign the wrong deal it means your publishing company can let your songs be used in anything without your permission. When we've seen shit contracts we always tell our bands... if you sign that they can use your songs in tampon adverts and only pay you one-off fee £1.36 for it, are you sure you want that? But yeah, you don't need permission from anyone to go out and sing or perform their song, as long as you pay what's due. thanks for explaining Lynn- I didn't know this before

As I said on another thread, I'm actually over the moon they chose this song out of all of the other songs that they performed on the Irish tour. I'm probably a bit biased because I'm a Blink fan It'll do well tho regardless! It's a catchy song & for those who hadn't heard it before it will catch on. I like the way they're not taking the whole bubblegum pop route, they're allowing edgier stuff aswell. Might make people a bit more open minded about them aswell. Show's they like all genres of music not just boybandy stuff

I think he liked Jump though because he made us sing it in Limerick outside the concert hall. Maybe he was surprised that it would be your type of thing Charlotte

To all of the fans who know J&E, Have they mentioned what type of contract they signed with Universal? I am just a bit worried that Universal might be using J&E as promo for their other artists. I am probably paranoid... but there is something weird about them doing another cover and just the songs from the tour.

Official news is that it was a 3 album deal. But people often say that and doing it that way when it could be 1 album with an option for 2 or 3 if successful, so you can never quite know. Doubt they'll ever tell any of us what it really is. I don't think its odd at all that the first album is looking like a full covers album.
Anyway ATST sounds like its recorded cos Anto teased us by playing a bit from their car today and then turned it off after about 5 secs a couple of times, the bugger! And before anyone asks, it sounded like J&E doing ATST!

I think some people here were right about Blink 182 fans not being happy about Jedwards cover of their song... www.fleckingrecords.co.uk/2010/06/blink-182-fans-are-outraged-at-jedward-cover.html'Some fans have even started Facebook campaigns to get the original version in the charts' Why do people have to do things like that? Just to spite John and Edward? That's just sad imo. I hope they get to number 1 even more now ;D

lol I just went on to Dougies (the guy from McFly) twitter (because Jedward twitterd him) and this is something he wrote...
Jedward are releasing Blinks "All The Small Things". Please help me raise enough money to pay them not too
I don't know if he's joking but is it just us Jedward fans who are quite happy with the single decision?
