OK this is what this party was like...
The whole thing took place in a tent/marquee. It was huge and very warm so it was comfortable enough. It started at 7pm where people came in and found their tables and sat and mingled. A couple of girls in stilts came in and had pictures taken with whoever wanted them.
Then this guy called Steve something came on stage and sung songs until 9:30 whilst we ate a 4 course meal which wasn't very nice to say the least - apart from the chocolate cake at the end.
During all of this we heard a raffle was going on to pick 4 tables to win a M&G with the boys but that ended up not being the case because the venue messed it up.
Anyways... at 9:30 or so the boys came on stage. It was only a small stage and it was quite low down. There were metal barriers at the front of stage to stop the audience from getting too close but it didn't stop them from pushing but that was to be expected really. We managed to get to the front so we obvs had a good view.
It was like the old club dates they used to do late last year/early this year - it was very nostalgic really. We were told earlier in the day that they were only doing 4 songs but they did 6 - the usual...
Rock DJ Teenage Kicks All the Small Things Fight for your Right Ghostbusters Under Pressure
I thought the boys were good. Edward kept coming to the barriers to grab fans hands. They were waving at people so they were interacting with the audience a fair bit. At the end or near the end Ed was saying how he knew everyone's faces (at the front of the audience). John said we "guys were amazing". It was really fun.
THEN... Steve the compere then announced that the boys "were nice enough to stay 20 minutes for pictures" -- John and Edward still thought they were doing a proper M&G with the tables that were picked. They had no clue what was going on. Anyway - Steve warned that if people pushed then the twins would have to go (obviously a warning from Liam who turned out to be actually amazing with us last night). That didn't stop people from pushing though and after 10 minutes they left -- people were warned. It made me angry because I was stood next to this girl who was so excited about seeing them and she couldn't because the idiots had to ruin it.
We rushed anyways to the back entrance of the tent where about 15 fans stood waiting and the boys came out looking very disappointed/pissed off. Edward complained that "drunk people ruined it" and they stopped a little bit to hug us all good bye.
As far as my interaction with the boys yesterday... I saw them at the airport and got a hug off of Edward and a nice one off John. Then in the evening I got a hug off of Edward and I fangirled slightly over John - shamefully that is. Some fans are very rude because he was working his way around and then some of them pushed right in front of me and crowded him - i think i pulled his arm slightly - or maybe patted it (can't remember - it was getting busy at that point) but as I said - other fans pushed in front of me so I stepped back because I don't fight. I know that's not necessary to get their attention. John came to me though and gave me a big one and said he read my letter I gave him that morning.
I left that gig happy but disappointed that the M&G never worked out.
If the venue had been a bit more organised I think last night would have been very near to perfect. They obvs didn't realise that people will not form an orderly queue when meeting these boys.
Also - the turn out was about 600 we were told - the least sold of the X Factor party nights but anyone who would rather watch Journey South than the Jeds aren't worth even knowing.

You actually made it sound a lot better than it was. A group of us, scattered over several tables asked if we could sit together, we were told in no uncertain terms, no. When we go inside, there were at least 8 tables in one area all free, all laid out for the meal - why couldn't we have those, instead of sitting next to people whose only intent was to drink as much as possible. 3 ppl who ordered vegetarian dishes had to physically chase the waiters to bring their dinner, the other ppl at their tables had finished their meal before they got theirs. A friend had heard several men say they wanted to punch J&E when they appeared, and when she went outside for a smoke, met Liam by chance ( he was very chatty she said) and relayed the news, he said they had been reading ppls tweets about the venue, it was very disorganised he said, never known anything like it.
Regarding the impromptu M&G rather than raffle, ppl were pushing and shoving all the time, some drunken woman laid into us, saying we were getting in her way - we were pushing a wheelchair - had she no ounze of appreciation how difficult it was for us, and we were towards the back not being able, or for safety pushing through the crowd - it was very dark (marquee inside was a dark brown) and ppl were all squashing into a confined area between tables, the ones with crockery, gawd knows how many of them landed on the floor as ppl pushed and shoved to get to the front - it was a an utter shambles - I don't blame Liam for taking the boys out.
We , Sue, Katharine and I were lucky to see J &E outside, and all got hugs from the boys and even managed to have a few words with them, but you could see they were not happy, John even apologised to the 3 Irish girls who had flown over especially for the event, he was not pleased with the way the venue had handled it.
The meal was as you'd expect for enmass catering - terrible. The singer/compere made Wagner sound like M.Bauble ! he just killed those tunes.
Only bright part was J & E's performance, full of exburance and high energy. John's voice was a tad croaky, but noticed mainly when he was speaking impromptuly. They gave so many fans they recognised shout outs, thanking ppl from coming from Ireland, Wales etc - after seeing them on their UK tour, you were teased by the 6 songs - and yes, it reminded us too of their post XF gigs.
Hotel's insistance of trying to send us round the hotel, down a dimly lit, slippery, snow covered slope was not welcome when we tried to get back inside through the rear door entrance. We had to verbally battle with them to let us through a function room - it was humilating for Katharine the way they treated her that night. No disabled toilets in the marquee - do they think noone with disabilities comes to these events (they also hold weddings out their too ) do they think they are some alien speices that are supposed to be holed up at home and not come out to enjoy themselves?
John & Edward's few minutes with their real fans, made up for the staff's uncivil attitude, and the inconsiderate, drunken party goers, it was certainly a night to remember - all for the wrong reasons!

Got a random tweet from Best Western Hotels asking me for details about my stay, it seems I may have gone on and on about how horrible it was on Twitter - oops! but handy! Honestly the complaint letter took me well over an hour to write.
