Thanks for the scans. That interviewer you could tell was not going to "get" them straight away, its like his mind was set and nothing was going to change it. From how he suggests the looks the boys gave him (when he comments on things like they look as as if to say "have you got a problem with that") they probably went into defense mode that they do so well and they can recognise someone being slightly hostile. Didn't really like the comment from sony insider that would have to wait and see how single does.. but love their random comments about grandads record player!

I hated the interview, it was obvious the interviewer so didn't get them!. He was judgemental from the start and didn't give them a chance. He even had the cheek to get a dig in saying a Sony insider was quoted as saying there's no future plans until they see how well the single performs. When did this interview take place?, well the interviewer will have to eat his words now cos an album is in the works!, what a pillock!

The interview would have taken place about a month ago, before the single was released. It's pretty awful crap, I won't even credit it with being journalism, he was actively hostile, which I'm sure must have come across in his interview and they obviously couldn't be arsed to let themselves be punching bags for a dickhead. As with every form of attack it's the attacker who comes off worst, bitchy, petulant, patronising without having a single question answered, he does nothing except reiterate everything their detractors say about them.
And there's the mocking of the way they look, what they eat, etc it's blindingly obvious that they just thought "fuck you" and shut down. Of course Odell has a moment of self doubt where he wonders if they're actually intelligent but no, because that would mean facing up to the fact he's been punked by two kids. Idiot.
Stuff like they came sixth, Cowell won't manage them that's fallen to Louis Walsh, the album isn't certain says a Sony insider etc etc etc hell you can get that from any thread on Digital Spy, the thing is they get 4 page spread in Q, more publicity, more readers, more circulation.

The interviewer was an asshole. Oh well at least John and Edward were more interested in the food then him.

Thanks for posting the article It could go in the relationship thread I think as a very good example of how defensive they are of each other when they feel someone is being hostile to them. I don't know if it goes back to the bullying thing but you can definitely read between the lines that they shut down completely from the start of this interview and seem to have wordlessly, maybe instinctively, agreed to give frustratingly little or nothing of themselves away to this guy. His loss. We've seen them so often lately inspired and excited by their interviewer and consequently giving a great interview. From the clothes they're wearing in the pictures this was the shoot from the same interview as the Times profile. Also, the comment that it's part of a series of interviews that day and the publicist making the comment about them always wandering off as he did in the Times interview makes me think it was done on the same day - which would have been right after they left the xfactor. The Times interview was published on the 28November. In which case, the comment from the Sony insider is accurate and now completely and utterly out of date and out of context

Thanks Kayleigh for posting the scans, I thought this was only out next week.
Great to see they have used the photo from the Toy Show at RTE last year. I will try and read up on them all during my break.

Guys you know what I suddenly thought the photos accompanying the interview looked familiar, they were taken in November the same time that the Times interview pix were taken, same clothes, same haircut, same setting the Sony offices, their minder even said the same things to the interviewer that they said to the Times guy. I have a feeling the interview was done in November on the same day they were doing a big round of interviews at Sony. There's always a few months delay between interview and publication - an interviewer can then add a few things later on, like mentioning the single to make it look more recent. But yeah, the interview was done in November.

And the Toy Show photo used on the last page was taken at the start of December.

Still doesn't change the fact the interviewer is a total dick, the boys obviously thought so too.

The photos are all stock images, I would imagine the interview was done on the press day they did at their PR Offices about a month ago.

No Kola, they're not all stock images, the main pictures of the boys in the Sony offices, wearing the Mickey Mouse tie and sweater are photos taken by Q magazine's photog.
Also there was a whole string of interviews given on that day in that office to several publications including Times, Now, Star which were all published at various times depending on when the magzine or paper was came out.
Also the prawns, the minder etc are spoken about in three of the separate interviews the earliest published on November 22nd. Two of the interviews including Q speak of the release of the debut single prior to its release and none of the interviews mention the NTAs.
That's why it's obvious that this is an interview dating back a few months with a couple of little addendums, the interview would have been sent to print before the single charted too, as he snidely implies the single won't sell and the album will be cancelled, both we know isn't happening.
Magazines get finalised over a month before they hit the stands and go to print, interviews don't immediately get put in there's a queue, it's perfectly reasonable that in a monthly mag an interview done in November will have to wait until a few months before there's space in the magazine.
But like I said the Q photos setting, what they're wearing, their haircuts and everything else appear in several mags and journals by several different photogs published at different dates - it was part of a whole string of interviews organised by Sony in the week following their exit from X Factor.

They were used in an Interview for the Times a few months back - so they're not taken by Q. None of the photos are new. And the interviewer even says that the interview was done at the Press day in the article, he mentions their fur trimmed coats, and from photos taken by other journos on the press day, thats what they were wearing then.
