Hey guys after watching them perfom of RTE last night I was a bit disappointed in their vocal performance. I've seen them live before and they were absolutely brilliant but their vocals were very weak last night. They never sounded that bad on the xfactor so I was just wondering what it was that made us hardly hear them?
Did they use auto tuning at gigs/xfactor or backing tracks to make them better? Their voices were much louder when I saw them live so I don't understand what went wrong? I know the backing singers didn't help matters but you would of thought you would of heard their voices a little!
I guess I just expected a stronger vocals from them? I love jedward loads and I'm so glad they got through but I hope they don't perform like this in Dussledorf.

Their vocals were really low in the mix alright, the backing singers came through a lot stronger which is a shame. The sound engineers at rte were probably instructed for it to be like this. I think the people should put their faith in them. I really hope that this will be rectified for Germany but I wouldn't count on it

Lets hope so! They'll have plenty of practise singing this song on their bad behaviour tour!

The problem? People were comparing this to their live shows.
You cannot compare. Look at the size of the stage... nowt to be done on their. They have to be professional here - they can't just go crazy like they do at their own shows.
Things can be tweaked as well before the actual Eurovision so the backing will most likely be toned down. The stage will be bigger and I bet a better routine will be done for them. And extra ordinary lighting.
Check out Portugal from 2009 and the UK from 2008 for good examples of lighting on YT. Expect things like that

I hope they just use the radio version john and edward singing their own part and backing singers stay in the back. When they boys are trying to harmonize i think they are losing it as they have different tone though in the chorus its ok. I 've been to most ESC web and most comment is about the weak vocal and unnecessary backing singers. Prior to the live performance they love the song but were all disappointed during the live :/. i hope they manage to sort it out.
Disappointed as well in choreography but as Jade pointed out ,the stage and lighting didnt contribute. Maybe they will do better for the semi .

There was definately something not right with the sound, even the backing boy singers could hardly be heard over the girls. RTE's panel seemed very biased against them all throughout the show so it wouldn 't have surprised me if the sound was "knobbled" too. Even at gigs when they sing acapella, they are louder than this performance - somthing definately amiss !

Their vocals were insanely low in the mix and there is no need they can sing that song! That first performance you could hardly tell their microphones were even on! Something seriously amiss are RTE studios there. They sounded better in the Newstalk interview!
That performance did not show them at their best, vocals drowned out by backing singers and stage area far too cramped. 2nd performance was much better, sound magically fixed??!?!?!?
On the plus side with this underwhelming rendition doing the rounds of the Eurovision forums when the sound is right in Germany and the stage is bigger they'll totally blow people away who really won't be expecting it! ( no Gemini style sound failure please!!!!)
That said on the recap of all the performances just before the voting started they did stand out from the rest for all the right reasons! it was just a below par Jedward performance, still light years better than the also rans.

I think they should be allowed to sing themselves. Ok, they're not the best singers, but they're not terrible. We've heard them sing in tune several times. Remember Edward's harmonising on the I want it that way video thing they did. All you could hear was the backing singers.

The song itself wont change I doubt but there'll be a new routine because Brian Friedman is doing it.
